How Do I Remove Mounting Tape?

Modified on Fri, 22 Aug at 9:26 AM

Foam / EVA Mounting Tapes

  1. Dental Floss Method
Use dental floss to gently cut through the adhesive bond between the tape and the surface. This method is effective for foam tapes and minimises surface damage.

  2. Heat Application
Apply gentle heat using a hairdryer to soften the adhesive. Once softened, peel off the tape slowly. This can help in removing the tape without leaving residue.

  3. Adhesive Solvents
For any remaining adhesive residue, apply a small amount of an adhesive solvent to a cloth and gently rub the area. Ensure the solvent is safe for the surface material.

Acrylic Mounting Tapes

  1. Heat Application
Similar to foam tapes, applying gentle heat can soften the adhesive of acrylic tapes. Use a hairdryer to warm the tape, then peel it off slowly.

  2. Solvent Use
After removing the tape, if any adhesive remains, apply a solvent like isopropyl alcohol to a cloth and gently rub the area to remove residue.
